Implementing Cypress Printer Feature Control

The ASG-Cypress Printer Feature Control (herein called Printer Feature Control) provides configuration details for PCL_5 and Postscript type printers. A data file containing this information is included with your Cypress installation. After importing this file into your DocuVault, you can access this functionality through your printer settings in the General tab in the Administration Tools module.

You can invoke Printer Feature Control by selecting a printer model and a valid Device DLL. This results in the list of input trays and output bins being pre-filled automatically in the Input and Output tabs for the selected printer.

If you do not select a printer model or select an unsupported Device DLL, the printer feature control is not used when printing.

Importing the Printer Feature Control Data File

When you install Cypress, a printer feature data file is provided with your installation. To add the printer models, you must import this file into your DocuVault.

To import the printer feature control data

1. Locate the Printer_Feature_Info.dat file in the Printer_info folder of your Cypress installation. For example:

C:\CYPRESS\Print_info\Printer_Feature_Info.dat.

2. Import the file via import_xml by entering:

import_xml.exe dv=.  import_file=<file title>

Invoking Printer Feature Control

After you import the printer data file into your DocuVault, you can invoke Printer Feature Control by selecting the printer model and Device DLL from the Device General tab.

After you define or select an existing printer, much of the information for that printer is set automatically in your Input and Output tabs. You must still define these items:

Required. On the Input tab, select the stock for each tray.

Select <not present> for any optional tray that does not exist in your physical printer. This tray will not appear in the Stock Change dialog in the Output Manager.

Required. On the Output tab, select the priority for each bin.
Optional. On the Output tab, specify a bin to be used by default.

See Defining Printers for more information on defining information for your printer.
