Defining Your Environment

This topic provides an overview of how you can use the Administration Tools module to configure and maintain Cypress for your site’s output environment and refers you to the appropriate documentation for more detailed information.

Overview

The Administration Tools module contains 15 tabbed pages that provide you with all the controls you need to define output devices, stocks, banners, formats, guests, roles, and DocuVault security, as well to meet indexing and archiving requirements.

Defining Devices

The Device tab enables you to enter configuration information for device definitions (i.e., printers, hold queues, and groups).

See the Administering > Output Environment topic for step-by-step instructions on defining a device.

Defining Stocks

The Stock tab enables you to define stocks that will be used in your output environment.

See the Administering > Output Environment topic for step-by-step instructions on defining stocks.

Specifying Stock Substitutions

The Stock Sub tab enables you to specify stock substitution to prevent delays in document printing due to stock unavailability.

See the ASG-Cypress Output Environment Administrator’s topic for step-by-step instructions on defining stock substitutions.

Defining Banners

The Banner tab enables you to create definitions for banners to make them available for selection in Cypress.

See the ASG-Cypress Advanced Formatting Administrator’s topic for step-by-step instructions on defining banners.

Defining Formats

The Format tab enables you to create format definitions that define page layout requirements for unformatted documents sent to Cypress through LPD In, FT In, TCP In, and DDI.

See the ASG-Cypress Advanced Formatting Administrator’s topic for step-by-step instructions on defining formats.

Specifying Font Substitutions

The Font Sub tab enables you to specify font substitutions to be used when fonts are not available on the Cypress Server.

See the ASG-Cypress Advanced Formatting Administrator’s topic for step-by-step instructions on defining font substitutions.

Defining Guest Security

The Guest tab enables you to define guest names and security for users who submit jobs from non-Windows domain security platforms via LPD In.

See the ASG-Cypress Document Capture Administrator’s topic for step-by-step instructions on defining guest security.

Managing DocuVault Partitions

The Partition tab enables you to manage DocuVault partitions.

See Partitioning DocuVaults for more information on managing partitions and using the Partition tab.

Creating Roles

The Role tab enables you to create groups of users that you can select when defining security requirements for objects (e.g., stocks or printers).

See Cypress Roles for more information on creating roles.

Assigning Windows Security

The Administration tab enables you to assign Windows security for DocuVault administrators.

See Managing Cypress Security for more information on assigning Windows security.

Defining Parameters

The Parameter tab enables you to configure many DocuVault parameters to suit the needs of your particular site. It includes other tabs, which allow you to define specific capabilities for your environment. The settings on the Parameter tab affect all documents that Cypress captures.

See Configuring DocuVault Parameters for more information on defining parameters.

Viewing DocuVault Information

The Info tab enables you to view information about your DocuVault and provides information to assist ASG Customer Support in troubleshooting DocuVault performance issues.

Viewing Personal Queue

Personal queue is a virtual printer queue that is associated with each logon user. A job queued in a personal queue stays in the queue until it is released to a Cypress device by using the PQ thin client or the PullPrint App. This Admin Personal Queue tab is used by a Cypress admin to view jobs in each individual's personal queue to solve any issues related to one's queue. The Personal Queue tab enables you to view the status of the document, title of the document, creation time of the document and so on.

Specifying Location

The Location tab enables you to specify the location of a printer and the attributes associated with it.

Creating DV User

The DV User tab enables the creation of a DV User by name and to set the password. A DV user is a user ID and password that is configured in Cypress. A user can log in with this user instead of using a Windows domain account.
