Running Data Propagation and Data Lineage
There are three ways you can run data propagation and data lineage within becubic. It can be run from:
- Within the Data Propagation Manager
- The becubic menu
- Within a redocumentation sequence
It can take several hours to run a data propagation.
To run data propagation or data lineage within the Data Propagation Manager
- Open a previously created data propagation definition.
- Click on any tab within the Data Propagation Manager to run data propagation. Once complete, a dialog box is displayed to confirm the data propagation was successful.
When creating or editing a data propagation definition, you must save it in order for the Run button to become available.
To run a data propagation or data lineage from the becubic menu
- Display the Propagation objects (for example, in the Type Browser or in a query result). These objects represent the data propagation or data lineage definitions you created and saved.
- Select the appropriate Propagation object.
- From the menu bar, select becubic Object Run Propagation.
Or
Double-click the Propagation object.
- Click OK in the dialog box that displays to inform you that the task has been executed successfully.
When the execution ends successfully, a PropagationResult object with the Propagation name, name of the starting object, and a timestamp is generated to store the data propagation results of each execution. You can consult the PropagationResult objects in the Type Browser.
