User Administration

The User Authentication Process

To work with Rochade, users must log on. The actual logon procedure depends on the authentication method used (for example, internal or external authentication). Rochade provides these methods for user authentication:

Authentication Method Logon Procedure

Internal authentication

Displays a logon dialog for users to enter their user name and password (if password protection is enabled) and verifies the information against authentication data stored in the ADB.

LDAP authentication

Displays a logon dialog for users to enter their user name and password and verifies the information against authentication data stored in an LDAP directory.

Kerberos authentication

Uses Kerberos to authenticate the user who is currently logged on to the computer and automatically logs on the user.

Trusted connection

Trusts that the user who is currently logged on to the computer has been authenticated already and automatically logs on the user.

For information on how to specify an authentication method for Metability, see the Configuring Login and Authentication.
