Understanding Work in Progress Environment

Enterprise Data Intelligence has two separate environments defined, such as Production and Work in Progress. Enterprise Data Intelligence Browser provides two different modes to handle the contents of the Work in Progress environment: Browse mode and Review mode. In Browse mode, you can only view the Work in Progress items and you cannot edit or modify them. In Review mode, you can edit the Work in Progress content. For more information on how to access Work in Progress modes, see Work in Progress Modes. The metadata items in the Work in Progress environment is moved to Production environment as a result of the corresponding approval workflow, after the respective approvers approve them. The administrators must start the Ingestion workflow from the Work in Progress context to move the Work in Progress content to production. By default, the ingestion workflow executes a configured instance of the Enterprise WIP MultiStep Approval Workflow (APPROVE_WIP_MULTI-STEP_ENTERPRISE). This workflow and its several steps can be configured and customized. For more information, see Editing Workflows. Respective approvers and stakeholders can also be notified based on the workflow configuration. The approvers need to review the Work in Progress items and either approve or reject the Work in Progress content. After all the required approvers approved the Work in Progress items, it is moved to the Production environment, as a result of the workflow exection.
