Version Management

This section provides information on how to use the version management facility to perform multiple operations such as compare versions, modify metadata in Work-in-Progress context, and create snapshots.

The version management functions are available only to users who have administrative access to the Web applications. For more information, see Administering Roles.

Compare Versions — Compare the content of two snapshots, a snapshot with production, or the contents of the Work in Progress environment with production.

Work In Progress— Enterprise Data Intelligence Browser ingestion processes can be configured to populate the Work in Progress environment, before the updated metadata are moved into Production as a result of an approval workflow.

Snapshots — Preserve the status of your metadata in production at a given point in time. This option creates a backup of selected Glossary data, business data, reference data, or technical metadata and archives it for comparison and reporting purposes.
