Introduction

Overview

In a standard environment, all Rochade Browser data are stored in a single subject area—the METAAPPS subject area. Users, therefore, only have limited means to separate their work. With LOB environments, you can partition the data among multiple subject areas to reflect different teams, departments, and lines of business in your enterprise.

The LOB environments are separated from the standard environment and from each other through the use of distinct subject areas (that is, a stand-alone subject area for storing scanner results and a subject area hierarchy that holds the metadata for Rochade Browser):

Because of this separation, each environment can have its own independent metadata lifecycle with a separate scanning of metadata from external sources, separate import and reconciliation processes, and separate browsing and analysis of the metadata.

To continue providing users a holistic view of all available metadata, the Enterprise Linker enables you to collect the metadata from the LOB environments in regular intervals and copy them to the standard environment. To reflect that, the environment provides an enterprise-wide view of the data, which is also referred to as the enterprise environment.

In LOB environments, Rochade Browser only supports the core functions for technical metadata. Any metaGlossary- and metaRDM-specific functions are only available in the enterprise environment.
