Word Automation
Word Automation helps you to input, read, and extract data from Word documents. You can use the available activities to automate word processing and document creation task, such as insert content copied from a website in a Word document, remove or replace specific content, or convert a Word document to PDF. These activities help you to integrate Microsoft Word with other applications and quickly perform time-consuming or repetitive word processing tasks.
Word Automation Activities
You can use the following activities to design an RPA bot to perform a task in a Microsoft Word document:
Use this action to add a picture to a specified word document. The picture is added in-line with the text and after the existing text in the word document.
Properties
- Name: Enter the display name of the action.
- Choose Window: The default window is the [Current Window] that is open when the bot is executing the activity. Alternatively, you can enter the left square bracket ([) to view the available windows list. Select the window on which you want to perform the click action or retrieve the value. You can also click the Refresh icon to update the list of windows.
- Path of the Picture: Enter the name and path of the picture, you want to add in a Word document.
Use this action to write text in an existing Word document.
Properties
- Name: Enter the display name of the action.
- Choose Window: The default window is the [Current Window] that is open when the bot is executing the activity. Alternatively, you can enter the left square bracket ([) to view the available windows list. Select the window on which you want to perform the click action or retrieve the value. You can also click the Refresh icon to update the list of windows.
- Append at: Select one of the following:
- First: Beginning of the Word document.
- Last: End of the Word document.
- Override: Replace the existing text with the specified text.
- Enter text to send: Enter the text to be written.
Export to PDF lets you convert your Word document to PDF format.

- Enter Filename: Specify the name of the PDF file you want to create.
You can use this action to find all the instances of the specified text in a Word document and replace it with new text.

- Enter Find Text: Enter the text you want to locate and replace.
- Enter Replace Text: Enter the new text to be written.
- Choose Action Type: Select one of the following:
- Replace: Replace only the first instance of the specified text.
- Replace All: Update all the instances of the specified text at once.
- Find Next: Replace the instances of the specified text one by one. It works just the same way Find Next button works in Find dialog.
Open a new Word document.
