Calculating Application Contents

Calculating the contents of an APM Application consists of running the contents query.

When you calculate APM Application contents, the APM Application Metrics are automatically calculated, so that you do not need to use the Calculate Application Metrics function after calculating APM Application contents.

The query that you use as the contents query of your APM Application must have been designed to retrieve exactly the objects that you want. If extra objects (that is, objects that do not have the attribute required for calculating APM Metrics) are included in the APM Application contents, becubic cannot calculate the APM Metrics values and it assigns N/A to the corresponding APM Metrics. If necessary, you can manually refine APM Application contents (see the topic Manually Refining the APM Application Contents for details).

To calculate the APM Application contents

  • On the Contents tab of the APM Application Manager, click Calculate Application Contents and Metrics.

Or

Right-click the APMApplication object and select Application Portfolio Management Calculate Application Contents and Metrics in the shortcut menu.

Viewing the Result of Application Contents Calculation

An APMApplication object being a set, when the contents are calculated, the contents of the set are automatically updated and you can verify them in the Set Contents view.

See the topic Set Contents View for information about the Set Contents view and the characteristics of becubic object sets.

Manually Refining the APM Application Contents

You can manually add/remove objects to/from the APMApplication set to refine the APM Application contents.

When you use the Calculate Application Contents function, the query is rerun and the contents are reinitialized with the query results while manual changes to the contents are discarded. If no query is defined on the APM application, then the contents will remain untouched.
