Toolbars in the Editor Frame

In the Editor frame, the views for editing link and namespace attributes have local toolbars. Report views also display local toolbars, depending on the type of visualizing used for the report result.

Toolbar for Link Attributes

This toolbar provides the commands for modifying link attributes. The table lists all the available icons in the toolbar for link attributes.

Customize Columns

Opens the Select Table Columns dialog, which lets you select the columns that should be displayed.

Select All Items

Selects all items in the list.

Deselect All Items

Clears all selected items.

Invert Selection

Clears all selected items, and selects all unselected items.

Add a Link to a New Item

Starts the dialog for creating new links (see Editing Link Attributes).

Add a Link to an Existing Item

Starts the Search for Items dialog so you can add items to the table (see Search for Items).

Delete the Selected Links

Deletes the links that are currently selected in the list of existing links (see Editing Link Attributes).

Move Up the Selected Links

Moves the selected links up in the list by one position (see Editing Link Attributes).

Move Down the Selected Links

Moves the selected links down in the list by one position (see Editing Link Attributes).

Attribute Info

Opens the Meta Information view, which displays a short description of the attribute’s purpose.

View Menu

Opens the local drop-down menu. Its commands correspond to the other local toolbar commands listed in this table.

Toolbar for Namespace Attributes

This toolbar provides the commands for modifying namespace attributes. The table lists all the available icons in the toolbar for namespace attributes.

Create a New Namespace Member and Assign it to the Attribute

Opens the New Item dialog so you can add items to the namespace (see Creating an item).

Assign Unclassified Namespace Members to the Attribute

Displays a list of unclassified namespace members so you can add them to the table.

The icon is available only for subject areas that support unclassified namespace members (that is, subject areas of Release 3.7). For more information on subject area releases, see Working on Subject Areas

Detach the Selected Namespace Members from the Namespace Attribute

Detaches the selected items from the namespace attribute (that is, the items become unclassified namespace members).

The icon is available only for subject areas that support unclassified namespace members (that is, subject areas of Release 3.7). For more information on subject area releases, see Working on Subject Areas.

Move Up the Selected Relationships

Moves the selected relationships up in the list by one position.

The icon is enabled only for namespace attributes defined with a significant relationship order. For more information on defining namespace attributes, see the Working on Subject Areas.

Move Down the Selected Relationships

Moves the selected relationships down in the list by one position.

The icon is enabled only for namespace attributes defined with a significant relationship order. For more information on defining namespace attributes, see the Working on Subject Areas.

Toolbar for Unclassified Namespace Members

This toolbar provides the commands for modifying unclassified namespace members. The table lists all the available icons in the toolbar for nclassified namespace attributes.

Diagram Toolbar

The diagram toolbar contains these commands for opening or activating diagram-specific views, for modifying the diagram display, for working with the items in the diagram, and for exporting the diagram. The table lists all the available icons in the diagram toolbar.

Opens/activates the Contents view.

Tree Layout

Rearranges the diagram in tree layout.

Hierarchy Layout

Rearranges the diagram in hierarchy layout.

Net Layout

Rearranges the diagram in net layout.

Zoom In

Zooms into the diagram.

Zoom Out

Zooms out of the diagram.

Grid

Displays an internally defined grid on the diagram.

Align on Grid

Aligns diagram elements on the grid.

Print Grid

Displays a grid on the diagram that corresponds to print pages.

Rectilinear Line Style

Switches between rectilinear and angular line shapes.

Select All Items

Selects all items in the diagram.

Deselect All Items

Clears all selected items.

Invert Selection

Clears all selected items and selects all unselected items.

Add Items

Starts the Search for Items dialog so you can add items to the diagram (see Search for Items).

Show Relationships

Adds relationships between items to a diagram. When items are added to a diagram, the relationships between them and previously present items are not automatically updated. To update them, select the desired items and then click this icon.

Detach Items/ Relationships

Detaches items and/or relationships from the current report (but not from the database).

Redisplay Hidden Items

Redisplays items that were hidden in the current report.

Hide Items

Hides items in the current report.

Search for Items in List

Runs an item search based on complex search conditions. Searches in a list of items (that is, items selected in the currently displayed diagram).

Show as

Lets you display the current report in any of the display modes: relationship tree, item table, table, or diagram.

Menu

Opens the local drop-down menu. Its commands correspond to the other local toolbar commands listed in this table.

Relationship Tree and Item Table Toolbar

Relationship tree views and item table views display items in a hierarchical format to show the relationships between them. They have almost identical toolbars:

Expand One Level

Expands all currently visible tree branches in the report to the next level down.

Expand All

Expands tree branches in the report.

Collapse All

Collapses all tree branches in the report.

Select All Items

Selects all items in the tree.

Deselect All Items

Clears all selected items.

Invert Selection

Clears all selected items and selects all unselected items.

Add Items

Starts the Search for Items dialog so you can add items to the relationship tree or item table (see Search for Items).

Detach Items/ Relationships

Detaches items and/or relationships from the current report (but not from the database).

Search for Items in List

Runs an item search based on complex search conditions. Searches within the set of selected items in the currently displayed relationship tree or item table.

Format View as

Exports the report to an HTML or Excel file in the temporary Windows directory.

Table Toolbar

Table reports display items in a flat list. They provide these toolbar commands:

Search View Toolbar

Search views are opened, for example, via the menu commands QuerySearch for Items and QuerySearch for Items in List.

Like all other query results, search views are located in the Editor frame. Search views have a query-specific display mode: They consist of several tabbed subpages for formulating complex search conditions, and a table for displaying the search result. Therefore, their toolbar commands are similar to those of table reports:
